Why Rest Might Be Your Most Productive Move
Sometimes the best way to move forward is to permit yourself to pause.

Read time: 2.5 minutes
We've always been admonished to do more, be faster, and achieve more than we have accomplished. But we have to remember that the human brain is not a machine and that constant activity does not always lead to better outcomes.
In fact, taking some time off may be just the thing to use all the cognitive resources you have available.
Why Rest is Important For Productivity
1. Rest Allows for Reflection
A to-do list that takes all your time leaves no time to think or create. Often the best thoughts come when you are not thinking about anything.
2. Not Everything Requires Action Right Away
Emails can be left for later.
Notifications can be ignored.
Some things can wait.
Urgent does not equal important.
3. Energy is Just as Important as Time
With two free hours in your schedule, you may get little done when your head is heavy. Protecting your energy makes it much easier to focus on what needs to be done.
4. Pausing Gives an Opportunity to Have a Look from a Distance
Constant pressure turns small issues into big problems. Indeed, taking a pause gives one an opportunity to view things from a distance.
5. You Don’t Need to Use All Your Hours Productively
Nothing will happen if you take some rest.
Emails will be waiting.
Tasks will be waiting.
But there’s a chance you’ll gain some clarity, energy, and motivation when you come back.
💡Key Takeaway:
Productivity doesn’t mean maximizing your time; it means using it wisely.
Let your emails sit for a while.
Let your to-do list sit for a while.
Let the world keep turning without you.
Rest is not the opposite of work. Sometimes, resting helps you work better.
