Friday Vibes Only: When Dev, Data, and Business Finally Stop Fighting

What if your teams aligned as smoothly as your best day at work?

Read time: 2.5 minutes

Fact: Most groups do not have an issue with technology. What they have is a synchronization issue.

It is Friday! Developers work rapidly together, Data correctly corresponds with sales, and the business knows. My inbox in Slack has no new messages, and there are no last-minute fixes. The execution goes flawlessly.

There are the same groups of people. Using the same applications.

Today, all of their existence is working in unison. Working together and making it look easy.

How Can You Synchronize Your Dev Team, Data Team, and Business?

1. Agree on definitions up front so you don't have chaos later down the line.
• Agree on your important metrics and KPIs.
• Define what success looks like before you build anything.

2. Provide a common context so there isn't any "translation" in between teams.
• Create a common dashboard.
• Clearly document how you arrived at your assumptions.

3. Create short feedback loops to speed up clarification.
• Hold weekly meetings with all teams to sync up.
• Iterate quickly vs long cycles.

4. Build things from a "decision point" versus an "output point".
• Focus on how this will affect your business.
• Make sure that Dev understands the "why" behind everything done.

5. Standardize workflows, so you remove any obstacles.
• All teams have access to the same tools and processes.
• Pipelines are repeatable across all teams.

💡Key Takeaway:

When Dev, Data and Business come together, things run smoothly and produce strong results.
