6 Unspoken Career Moves That Make You Hard to Replace in an AI World
AI isn’t replacing jobs overnight. It’s replacing people who don’t evolve fast enough.

Read time: 2.5 minutes
Every week, AI tools are becoming faster, which means tasks are getting smaller, and we’re also developing higher expectations for what those tasks produce.
They still continue to "perform their jobs" but now do so with greater efficiency.
However, another person is now responsible for achieving successful outcomes by executing their responsibilities differently, using the same tools.
How Are You Making Yourself Irreplaceable?
1. If 80% of your job can be done by the computer, you're not going to be safe for long; you're already too late.
You're out, just not quite as far out as the person who's already been fired.
Roles based on doing something are dead.
Fix:
Kill your own work (50%) with AI.
→ Go to owning the problem.
2. Just because you have a job title doesn't mean you'll be safe; ownership is the only thing that will keep you safe.
Titles don't build value,
Stakes build value.
Fix:
Tie yourself to:
→ Revenue
→ Expenses
→ Risk
If there are no Stakes for you, then there is no protection.
3. To be really good at only 1 thing means you are most liable to be replaced by a computer.
Single-skilled jobs are the easiest to automate.
Fix:
Stack or Wait:
→ Domain skill + AI + Communications Skill
If you don't have a stack, you won't have a competitive edge.
4. If you fly under the radar and do your job without being seen or recognized, you will be the first one to go.
If work is not visible, it doesn't get counted.
AI offers greater visibility, speed, and clarity of output.
Fix:
Show what you're thinking weekly:
→ What problem did you solve
→ How you solved the problem
→ Why the problem you solved is important
5. If you're not keeping up with the pace of AI's learning (improvements) and you fall behind, you will lose your job.
A static skill will begin to lose its value very quickly.
Fix:
Daily reps from:
→ Using AI
→ Breaking things
→ Improving fast
The fast way is better than the perfect way.
6. Execution is expensive; it is all about the judgment.
Computers can do the task.
Computers cannot make a decision.
Fix:
Train for:
→ Trade-offs
→ Prioritization
→ Decision ownership
Be the decision maker, not the doer.
💡Key Takeaway:
Don't worry about losing your job to AI… rather, lose it to an individual who can adapt quickly and is better equipped.
