5 Brutal Truths About Using AI Early in Your Career
If AI is writing your work, are you actually learning your job?

A junior analyst drafts a report with the help of AI. The report looks very polished and sharp, it’s convincing and well-organized. The analyst forwards the report to their boss.
During a meeting, an individual asks a very simple follow-up question regarding the report.
The room goes silent…AI can generate the response, but you cannot rely on AI to build your own judgment.
5 Hard Facts About Early-Career Use of Artificial Intelligence
1️⃣ If You Use AI to Write, You Will Never Learn How to Do Your Job.
Copying and pasting from AI doesn’t count as being productive.
Fix: Write the question, three supporting points and your suggested solution before you search/ask for AI.
2️⃣ You Will Sound Smart If You Use an AI Program, Even Though You Are Not.
This can happen… but only until someone asks you a question related to what you just stated.
Fix: Ask yourself, “Could I answer this without using AI?”
3️⃣ AI Improves Speed, but Your Boss Cares More About Accuracy.
You can't build trust with speed; Trust only comes through the exercise of good judgment.
Fix: Have at least one piece of data checked for accuracy, and list at least one risk associated with using the data, and what you would recommend doing.
4️⃣ AI Will Give You a Summary of What Happened but Will Not Help You with Decision-Making.
Making a decision is the hardest skill anybody will ever learn.
Fix: Ask yourself, “What would I do if I were responsible for this problem?”
5️⃣ AI Will Not Help Develop Your Reputation.
People will remember the insights you provided, the questions you asked, and the decisions you made, but they will not remember the prompts or commands you used to create them.
Artificial intelligence can help speed up thinking but will never replace it.
💡Key Takeaway:
AI multiplies power by amplifying good ideas and diminishing bad ones.
