30 Second Mindset Shift for CEOs: Your Company Is Becoming Invisible. Because You Are.

You still think personal branding is optional. Corporate-safe is market-invisible. Here's the fix.

Read time: 2.5 minutes

Your company is becoming irrelevant because it's invisible. Scripted, sanitized, interchangeable leaders hide behind their titles instead of being true to themselves or leading from a place of confidence.

You sound like any other CEO… using the same safe statements, sending out the same approved messages, and creating zero resistance in your messaging.

As a result, you are losing share to a competitor that is simply louder than you because they are confident enough in themselves to make themselves visible.

Change Your Mindset as a CEO in Less than 30 seconds

1. Stop Hiding Behind PR

The key to executive gravity is visibility, while PR focuses on risk management. Visibility builds trust, PR keeps you safe… therefore, choose to build executive gravity by being visible to your audience.

2. Understand the Cost of Silence

Your market responds better when your company's leaders provide them with information about what they believe, rather than just another mission statement (or other 3rd-party-generated statement). So, give your market something meaningful to support your brand.

3. Identify Why You Sound Interchangeable

Most enterprise CEOs sanitize everything that they say and write out of fear of being controversial. If no one is offended by your point of view, then no one will believe it… in an attention economy, bland is bankrupt, so don't be.

4. Make Your Position Clear in a Single Sentence

Your market needs to know instantly what you believe, what you reject, and where you are building towards. If your market cannot clearly state your perspective, they do not respect you; then they simply tolerate you.

5. Stop Permitting Legal Departments to Define You

Lawyers live to minimize risk, but leaders create trust. Find the proportion between the two and learn to live there. In every instance, an inadequate opinion from a human leader is better than a perfect opinion provided by an emotionless robot.

💡Key Takeaway:

What's important is that you have a job at a company that's corporate-safe. However, another important thing is that you have a strong presence as someone who has conviction. Don't confuse the two in your head.
